I've been a graphic designer based in Sheffield for nearly 20 years (gulp), for the majority of that period I've worked as a freelance designer. I also have agency experience having previously been employed as a senior designer at advertising agencies in Leeds and Sheffield.

Over the years I've designed for everyone from sole traders to multi-national organisations and produced everything from the sexiest of brochures to the most mundane of car air fresheners. What ever I'm tasked with I always approach it with the same level of vigour and attention to detail. I have a particular love of typography and simple clean design with an elegant twist.

If you are agency looking for freelance support during busy periods, or if you have a particular requirement or project that you are unable to provide in-house, I am available to book on a freelance basis – I prefer to work on a project by project basis and have full facilities to work remotely. I’ve been designing and building websites for over 10 years, from single pages sites through to fully bespoke e-commerce web stores.

My aim is to create search engine friendly sites that focus on simple, elegant design that are tailored to the needs of the individual client and their market. No two projects are the same and I approach each new site with fresh ideas that meet the individual brief.

The majority of my sites and built with a content management system as standard, allowing the website owner to add and edit their own content. I employ various content management systems, chosen depending on the size and functionality required for the website.

Without the overheads of a design or advertising agency, I am able to offer my website design services to businesses at an economical price compared to working with an agency. You will also receive a more personal and dedicated service, with no receptionists and account handlers to get though. I work directly with many small to medium sized businesses producing single page sites, brochure websites, bespoke content managed sites, gallery websites and e-commerce stores.

I provide a complete service from domain registration and web hosting through the design process, product and location photography, web build and content management. Once the site is built it doesn’t end there – I can provide on-going support and work with you on search engine optimisation and integration of social media.

It may be that you’ve already have a website and identity and just need improvements to your website’s design and functionality. If this is the case I can look at how to improve what you already have and look at adding the functionality you require. I can also advise on site improvements to advance your search engine listings.

Website design and build for design, marketing and advertising agencies

I have a passion for landscape photography and was recently described by Steve Watkins, Editor of Outdoor Photography magazine as “One of the brightest talents on the British landscape photography scene”

Whilst the majority of my landscape photography subject matter is lead by my own need to explore a particular subject; working on a project by project basis, I do also produce commissioned work – for example I was recently commissioned to provided landscape photography for a TV production company who were producing a TV ad for Buxton Water. This involved me scouting and photographing throughout the Peak District and also provided me with the opportunity to photograph from a helicopter.

I work mainly with large format film cameras but also use a range of other format film cameras as well as digital SLR cameras when required.

I teach large format and advanced digital with fellow photographer Tim Parkin. Our workshops which are mainly based in the Peak District, have attracted clients from as far afield as Norway and the USA. Our website (which I designed) can be found at www.landscapephotographyworkshops.com

I have provided product and location photography for my clients and during my time working for advertising agencies for the duration of my 20 year design career. This allows me to visualise the required photographs and produce them quickly, without involving other photographers. This method of working is more cost effective and less time consuming for my clients and allows me to experiment with creative photographic ideas, allows me to produce photographs just as the design requires.

Over the years I’ve photographed products ranging from quad bikes to toilet seats as well as shooting in factories and interiors.

I have studio facilities and can produce images digitally or using film cameras depending on the requirements of the project – I have full in-house drum scanning capabilities.

If you have products to sell, either on line or using traditional print, representing your products as accurately and professionally as possible is paramount – I can provide a cost effective photography service, and provide images that are perfectly optimised for print or website use.
